Communications Hill, San Jose

Live Oak Associates has provided biological services for Communications Hill in San Jose since 2001 to the present.

Live Oak Associates prepared a number of biological resources sections for the various EIRs and Mitigation Negative Declarations (MND) that have been prepared for the build out of the Communications Hill Specific Plan. This was accomplished by conducting multiple special status species surveys for Communications Hill, including surveys for:

  • Rare plants (including species occurring on serpentine

  • Bay checkerspot butterfly

  • California tiger salamander

  • Nesting birds

  • Burrowing owl (including locating overwintering owls during preconstruction surveys and working with the SCVHP to establish and monitor construction-free buffers)

  • Tricolored blackbird

  • Bats (for the mines prior to sealing)

  • American badger

Live Oak Associates prepared a biological evaluation with updates over time, a wetland delineation, SCVHP permit application preparations, provided construction workers with biological training, and conducted site visits to monitor for special status species and monitored construction.
